It’s a cliche, but it’s true…the holidays will be here in no time!
Speaking of time, you will have even LESS as the days move closer to year’s end! I hate to think of you rushing around trying to put festive outfits together last minute for all your holiday social fun. I am here to help. I have put together some outfit recipes that you can mix and match ingredients to be stylishly prepared for any social event.
Textures, Metallics, and Black
Nothing says holiday celebration like black clothing. Truth be told, black can sometimes wash you out. Try different shades of black(onyx, charcoal, ebony) until you find the right one. Best thing, I bet you already own a ton of it. Start with a slim black straight or full pant. Let’s play from there.
Substitutions: add some sparkle or pattern for some holiday cheer.
Denim
Denim can take you a lot of places. Personally, it is a favorite of mine. If you are dressing it up, darker is the best bet. Mix it with the unexpected. Sequins are festive! A dressy well fitting jean with a festive holiday top, fun shoe, and a structured jacket
Substitutions: plaid shirt, cashmere sweater in a favorite color
Red and Plaid
It is expected this time of year. It can look classic or homespun. A recipe for red includes a white polka dot top, with red accessories and either black or dark denim pant or skirt. Up the style with red nail polish and lipstick for some added fun.
Substitutions: to keep plaid bottoms from looking too preppy add an unexpected color in a shoe or boot. Consider a leather jacket! Switch out to neutral nails and lipstick.
My best advice for the holiday season is self-care. Prepare a few outfits, try them on to be sure they fit and are clean. Take pictures of the ensembles. It helps when trying to remember in the hurry of getting ready. I’d be more than happy to help you come up with some winning holiday outfit recipes.
It’s a gift to yourself that you will cherish as the holidays fly by!
