Your glasses are an everyday accessory, but with mask-wearing and Zoom calls, glasses are an even greater fashion focus. Here are some tips to consider when buying a new pair, or caring for a pair you already own.
Buying New
Shop by shape – Consider your face shape. I recommend balancing the proportions of your face shape. This means that if you have a round face, wearing round frames will just make your face look rounder. If you put a square shape frame on a round face it will help balance your natural face shape and bring symmetry to your prominent features.
Color – Have fun with color! As a guideline glasses should both complement the undertone of your skin color and your hair color. Choose a color, pattern, or texture that expresses your personality and are fun to put on.
Caring for your glasses
Remove your glasses with care – When you take your glasses off, use both hands. Why two hands? Removing with one hand over stresses one side of the frame, eventually causing it to bend out of shape and the frames will become wider than your head. Ill-fitting glasses can distort your image and make you appear literally uneven.
Beware of using your glasses as a headband – Wearing your sunglasses as a headband may keep your hair pushed back and out of your face, but you will find your glasses start to stretch out and slide down your nose. Plus, if you’re like me, you won’t lose them on top of your head anymore!
