These are unsettling times, and no one could foresee how challenging this would be. We are all in this together so let’s try a new approach. Studies show that getting put together can increase your confidence and boost your productivity. Here are three tips to modify your at-home wardrobe and give it some more structure:
1. Have an elastic-free day. I love my elastic-waisted pants for their comfort and versatility, but they have not been a good friend to my waistline. Some of us have socially distanced from pants with a button, I am suggesting it is time to make friends with them again. By getting dressed in pants with a button, it can create a sense of order and normalcy.
2. Not ready to part with your leggings elastic-waisted pants? How about we style them differently? Maybe a more fitted or layered approach to the top to part your outfit. Start with a base layer, a tank, t-shirt or cami, and then add a blouse, dress, or jacket. Wearing clothes with a bit of structure can make us feel more in control.
3. Some of you may be thinking these are great ideas, but I have gained weight and nothing looks/feels great right now. Weight gain has been a common side effect of this time. Try adding accessories, a colorful scarf, or a fun necklace, and statement earrings can elevate an otherwise ordinary outfit to stylishly put together.
I am here to help – now and when we get through this! I would love to hear from you. Reach out to me at SueMelville.com. Together we can make this seem more normal and self-assuring.
